Yolande-Panorama 14

  • DESCRIPTION

It is always delicate to write a text on a work in the making. To get round this difficult situation, Louise and I decided to consult a Tarot reader to find out more about the Yolande performance.
It was Richard Carrozza, assistant to Mr. Alexandro Jodorovsky, who granted us this divination.
We had hardly arrived when Richard told me that he already knew why I was there.
I pointed out nevertheless that this clairvoyance session concerned the way our project would be carried out, and I explained in a few words what it was about:
A fishing-boat hung 17 metres high is to crash onto a wall of champagne, a rather refined balance of power -a boat, a rope, Champagne- where all the elements involved are struck down.
The reversal of roles between the boat and the champagne suggests a comical reading of superstitious rituals.
He then asks me to pick three cards, and I pick in order the Empress, Strength and the Star that respectively represent creativity, courage and success.
Richard says that for him it is perfectly clear. The meaning of the cards is as obvious as the outcome of the performance. The consultation ends.
On the Yolande project, Paul Sauto writes:
Wave after wave, day by day, year after year, she carried me through life. She was my friend and family. I looked after her and she looked after me. The sea horizon was infinite and, at first, I felt free. But I followed a path carved by chance and by others. As time slipped through my fingers, it became shorter and harder. Now, her weakened bones will be taken and smashed. Sprayed with tears of champagne. Who will take her place? Was the whole thing a waste? Will they laugh or clap at this end? Are they prepared to finish like her and me? Paul Sauto works for an EU network for the sustainable development of fisheries areas.
